Episode 81: Ten Annotated Years

This month, Matthew takes a break from cohosting the podcast in order to make his debut as a guest on the MBCP, and Bob and I grill him on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the publication of The Annotated Marx Brothers.

I don’t know why we didn’t think of this sooner — being guests on our own podcast! Next month, we’ll have an exclusive interview with Bob Gassel, and in July, Noah Diamond will join us to tell the story of how we got the exclusive Bob Gassel interview! In August, Episode 84 will feature Matthew Coniam reminiscing about his experience being a guest on Episode 81.

Note for Patreon subscribers: The new bonus segment will be available next week.

Note for non-Patreon subscribers: Subscribe to the MBCP on Patreon! You’ll get instant access to all of our bonus segments, plus (at the higher levels) our monthly postcard in the mail, fabulous gifts, and, of course, more.

Supposedly one of these three people is Matthew Coniam.

Official description: “We're celebrating the tenth anniversary of Matthew Coniam’s The Annotated Marx Brothers: A Filmgoer's Guide to In-Jokes, Obscure References and Sly Details. In this retrospective, we explore how the book came to be—and how it ultimately became something quite different from what the title might lead you to expect.

“What sets it apart from other books on the Marxes? Is an updated edition on the horizon? And does Matthew still hate Duck Soup? These and other pressing questions will be lightly dodged before we inevitably try to sell you a copy.”

Note for early birds:  When a new episode is released, it might not appear at all of the locations below right away. If you visit your favorite podcast provider and the previous episode is still the most recent one you see there, be patient! And above all, don't worry.
